This was my original blog that I wasn’t to happy with. I have been posting very regularly now for the past two months on my old blog. I spent most of today revamping it up and will be staying there.

well… I got into painting this and didn’t take out the camera. Several steps and blending have taken place since the last photo. The bear has started to look fuzzy and warm. I added the yellow background to make it have a warmer tone and a summery feeling to it.

I still have more to go and the final results will be shown tomorrow night before I drop it off in the gallery on Friday.

step process for new painting day one

This weekend has been art packed basically…
I worked my shift yesterday in the gallery and during the first hour sold out of my magnets. So sorry anyone in the Enid area that wanted a magnet! They are out and I don’t think I can get another order in before Christmas. 25 magnets were purchased. LOL I thought I enough. : ) but hey I’m not complaining.
Next, I will taking a new batch of business cards into the gallery as well. I am out of those too!
There was an open house today from 2-4 in the mall gallery. I was not able to attend because of congestion.
I have four limited edition signed archival prints that I took in yesterday. They are framed and priced at only $25 each. One is 1/50. I will check tomorrow when I take more stuff in if that is still the case after the open house. I have priced them at $25 for the holiday gallery sale. Most of the prints have sold for $65 or more. So this is a bargain.
dat ta da!! and here is the exciting news for anyone in the area. I wasn’t planning on doing this, but I will be putting an original 11 x 14 inch acrylic painting on wrapped canvas ready to hang in the gallery in a few days. I have pictures of what I have finished so far. I will be pricing this at $50!!! yes you pay $50 plus Oklahoma tax, which tax in Enid is 8.35% on the dollar and it’s yours.

I did some research for bears that used to be in Oklahoma, and they are black and or brown bears. I’m going with a brown bear for this one…

First off I draw the complete picture on the canvas… they I love to start off with the skin color…

after painting on and off for two years now I have come up with four colors that I use in making skin… this has the start of my shading

next I decided I would make the hair black…which I found out the using a really dark gray actually works better than going full on black…

I have the basic under painting for the bear. I will be making him/her (I haven’t decided) a cinnamon colored bear. The girl is not finished either. There are several more steps left to finishing the painting. This is where I decided to stop for the night. I will be painting and documenting more tomorrow. If your interested in the painting, I would look for it in the gallery more than likely on Friday after 11 am because I need to get out of my morning classes before dropping it off in the gallery.

yes I’m still around

I thought I would write a little something today to let everyone know I am still alive and working on a whole bunch on new artwork with a totally new look. I will release the images when I get a good deal of them done.

What have I been doing? Running around lumber yards and rediscovering Masonite panels…which I am cutting to various sizes, making the mount for them to be cradled on, gluing, sanding, measuring, gessoing, drawing, and finally painting.

Have you ever had so many ideas come to mind that you can’t sleep and your on an art high. Well, this has been my life for the past two weeks…many sleepless nights and many notes taken at 3:33 am .

Next weekend I will be in the gallery…the weekend after that I will be cleaning out one of the back sheds and finally make a shop! I have so many things that need there own place I am making a shop to hold all of my Masonite panels etc. I also need a place to store all of the art work for different shows.

So this is what I am doing and in the next month will be a very large update!

hello dolly….

Ok…here is what I’ve been working on for the past few days. I have had the “itch” to start sewing some dolls of my designs for well over a year. My other designs were to complicated for what I have the ability to do up until the sugar fairy design that I just randomly doodled a few weeks back. This is dolly #1. Each creation will have a name and short description. This is the prototype. I had drawn the template on Wednesday and sewed her on Wednesday of this week. This doll is not for sale, she is just my model for the remaining dolls. Her height is 13 inches. I will be adjusting the pattern and the dollies from here on out will be slightly larger. If your in my area…surprise surprise I will be bringing in some dolls to sell in the gallery next Saturday.

(why dolls now. Because I have to have a pretty good inventory for all the craft fairs I’m going to attend next year! And what a fabulous time to try them out in the gallery for christmas shoppers. : )
